Principal's Corner

From the Desk of the Principal

This is our first 2008-2009 bi-weekly newsletter. Please go through the pages and read the school news and post the menu where it will be easily accessible for you.  We also post the newsletter on our website:  sbrs.schoolinsites.com.

We are off to a wonderful start.  The classes are busy working and as usual the teachers are busy working even harder to have everything ready and exciting for them each day.  Thank you for attending the orientation on August 12.  Remember to send all completed forms to school as soon as possible.  Today another form, the Technology Policy and Permission Form, went home for you to read and sign.  Please return it ASAP so that your child will be able to participate in the work done on the computers and in the computer lab.

Dismissal is also very smooth.  Remember to use the official number that has been assigned to you.  Put it in an upright position in your windshield and keep it there until your child is in the car and you have exited the alleyway.  We want our children to be safe at all times.

This year our schedule is different.  Our school mass will be on Thursday at 8:30.  We do attend mass on Holy Days of Obligation and those masses begin at 9:00.  Music this year will be on Tuesday.  Art is on Thursday. First grade thru eighth grade will have an art period with Ms. Edwards.

The 5th thru 8th grades will be going to Camp Cosby in early September.  The K-5 and 1st grades also have a trip planned early in November.  Please remember that all chaperones and drivers must complete forms so that a background screening can be processed.  The diocese also requires that all chaperones and drivers (actually volunteers and employees) must attend a Youth Protection Workshop.  See the list included in this newsletter for available times and places to attend this workshop.
